My truck doesnt have the antilock brake system but i am thinking of getting it upgraded. There is a guy here locally that is parting out his truck hich has abs and i am thinking of taking the parts fom his truck and transfering them to mine. What parts do i need if i were to do it? Would it even be worth the trouble if i were to do it? What would a reasonable price be for the antilock brake system?

It is a lot of work. Major parts are the abs ecm with the main valve, other solenoid with valve, (both at the rear axles) air dryer, 2 wheel sensors, all wiring from sensors to valves to dash light and passenger side cab diagnostic connector. There is also the plumbing air lines and I believe there are other valves (relay and ?) that also need changing.

Another member sent me the abs upgrade tm/ instruction manual. I believe I have it at home. I will let you know later. PM your email as I think it is too big to post.

Wow that just sounds like a lot of work for just an ABS system . I'm just saying with the prices of the 5 ton's lately wouldn't it be easier to sell yours and buy one already equipped with it . I understand it being needed in snow and ice but, I really wonder about it's need in our southern most states . No offense just asking .

It's needed more in good traction conditions, to keep from sliding sideways and tipping over.

If you have the MWO for ABS, it is very detailed, and I would think it very doable. It would take a couple of days to make it happen.

I think that you have the Marines version of the A1, I read where it was made to fit the size of their shipping cubes .What gave it away was it had 5 dropping sides and it was also a foot longer the most . The standard length is 14 ft. So this is the one you will find a 923A1 missing panel from.... good luck
