My m923a1 transfer case is stuck in neutral--bought the truck not running--put in a starter--fuel lines--batteries--pcb--and lots more--It may have sat for 4 years with transfer case in neutral--trans works and that shaft moves--I disconnected the linkage which is frozen and tried tapping the shaft into the transfer case-----------f-n-r- shaft on tc will not move--any ideas how to free this shaft on the tc up--also tried moving the shaft with the air button pressed on the linkage handle and still frozen--thanks George

Does the truck have air pressure when you are trying to get it to change? If so bleed it all off and then try if that doesn't work take the interlock piston of then try again.

What he said, 90% of the truck I get will not shift back into high or low without all the air pressure bleed off.. Just keep pumping the brake pedal until the air bleeds down to 0 and give the shifter a firm tug.

I will try moving the shaft tomorrow with the air at o lbs--that is a good lead--I have the shift linkage disconnected from the tc shifting input shaft--I tried to tap the shaft into the tc lightly with a heavy hammer--it did not move--tapping it in would be hi range------the shifting linkage is frozen solid--that is why I had to disconnect it--I will also try removing the interlock piston----thanks for the good advise--George

It worked--I had to remove the rod under the interlock piston--I never would believe it could be stuck--The rod came right out and then I could move the shift rod 1/4 of and inch--still not going into hi rang--removed the drive shaft --turned the tc shaft flange while turning the trans flange--the shift rod then slipped into hi range--Another great mystery solved---Thanks you guys for all your help------no longer waiting for Dave to get back to me with Christmas pricing for a used TC
