Just back from a trip to Ft Riley to recover a M923. Muffler had the bottom rusted completely out. It was 86° today and added to the exhaust heat we got 5 plastic airlines so hot they blew a hole in them and we lost our air. Got about 6 mpg, 10 mp 3/8 hose and about 20 mp1/2 hose. 2 trips to the parts store in Clay Center, Ks for parts and away we went. Met Cory Stewart, a fine young gentleman who owns a towing service in Clay Center who was also picking up a M923. His air dryer purge was leaking. We stopped at Valley Metals next door to Easy Jacks salvage , Junction City, Ks for some M923 parts. Mel has been treating us right.

Well, the gasket was fine at it's sealing surfaces so I just reused it. Head was nice and flat (true). Them two back bolts just have a nice way of infuriating an individual trying to get them started into the head (basket). But I survived the angst with no damage to the truck or myself or my cat. The cat was nowhere in sight once the yelling at cummins and their poor hiring process of obtaining qualified engineers began. Upon completion I fired the beast up and started to build air immediately. It built faster than it had in the past too. So it was a stuck unloader valve. Now an issue with the ctis has returned but I think that will work itself out. Can't get the highway mode to stop blinking and even hitting the run flat for a moment and then hitting it again still leaves the highway mode light blinking and then when it vents itself they all blink until I hit the highway button again. It did this when I first got the truck but had quit but now is back. At least it's building air. I will deal with the ctis if it don't fix itself. I am thinking a few times of building air and then draining tanks and the same over again will unstick what is stuck (again).

Check your air pressure. If it doesn't hit 120psi or above the CTIS will not work properly. A quick adjustment of the governor should remedy it.

Mine did the same thing after I tore my compressor apart.

I believe most guys shoot for 130psi but mine is set just above 120psi and everything works fine. I didn't want to chance too much pressure and causing more issues.

I agree with avoiding the high pressure. Seems well with the 122 lbs. now.
