M929A2 dump truck. As subject says, I need a replacement lever to engage the PTO in the cab but I've not had luck in the usual sources. It's thingy #12 (and 10, 11 preferably) in the attached sheets from the -24P. Any non-obvious sources I should try?

Can you make one- 3/16" plate, or better? Any cool Ball. Note- the inside spot-welds (for the 'pivot-bracket') may need looked at . Mine were not very strong.

After no one replied for a couple days, I did start thinking about fabbing one up. I don't have a plasma cutter so was thinking maybe using 1/4" thick, 1" wide flat stock from the orange big box store. Would make a reverse L-shape and like you said, any cool knob on top would suffice. I haven't dug into innards of the control box yet to measure the width of the cable clevis or the pivot points but need to verify anything I fab would slide in without issue. I'll mock one up out of cardboard or thin plywood to make sure the movements don't jam anywhere. I shouldn't be too hard to figure out since all the lever is doing is pulling the cable out enough to engage the PTO.

Just another project to put on top of the list for getting the truck running...

Yes, I tried the usual folks like Memphis, Midwest, Army6x6, Oskosh, etc. Usually google will pull up a few items on the NSN or part number but none at this time. This is such a minor simple part that fabbing one up is probably the way to go.

DeMil- I appreciate the offer to 3d print one but I'm willing to bet plastic might not hold up. I'm assuming plastic, even reinforced, is what you mean and not sintered metal printing which would be above and over the top of a favor.

Not sure why you would say that. The old notion of 3d printing not being strong is long past. For this application using abs will make a stronger part than stock. Just the knob is what I’m taking about. Even the arm I could print but definitely better to machine.

Haha! Yes, I agree with you completely. I misunderstood as I thought you were talking about printing the arm itself. Sorry, I was stuck on a lot of information I get about 3D printing of metal parts for prototyping. I think I'm good with finding a knob. I was just going to weld a threaded stud on the end of the lever and use any threaded knob I liked from Amazon.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll ask my uncle if he still has his 8-ball that he had on his gear shift in his old chevelle that he wrecked back in the 80's...
