m939 t1138 tcase repair????

I am looking at buying a M939 however the tcase is busted. It also needs a stater and alternator but the biggest issue I am worried about is the t1138. Can it be rebuilt or can you buy parts for it? Ive done some looking and all I can find are either take outs or new t cases. the houseing is still good but the internals are shot. Apparently someone thought it was a good idea to let the hammer down in low range reverse. Any and all help/ advise will be greatly appreciated. thank you

for what you can get a used transfer-case for, its cheaper/easier to just replace it.. find someone parting out a truck.. going rate SHOULD be $600-$1000

Chances are the housing is damaged if thats the case. I second finding a good take out.

the next question is are there any mv salvage yards near iowa? or is there a different tcase bsides the t1138 that would work in a m900 series truck. I would really like to avoid doing this again if i can

As long as you dont gun it in low range reverse you wont have the problem again. You can back up to something in low and be fine, just not gun it or low reverse under load.

Too bad there arent any around where I live, I did find a complete running and driveing truck in the process though.
