Hey guys.

Long time lurker.

Got some questions about a M996 Body that I just picked up.

Still had the wiring, heater, NBC Equipment in it.

Does it work? No f-ing idea.

The body is kinda dinged up. Nothing bad, but it's kinda annoying. Some rivets missing, ect ect.

My plan with this Body is to mount it to my M116A2 Generator Trailer and make it a BOT/ET(Bug Out Trailer/Expo Trailer).

So, on to the questions.

1) The heater system HAS to run off 24V, correct? Any way to convert it to 12V?

2) The lights inside are 24V as well, correct? Could I just swap out the bulbs for 12V, or do I need to rewire?

3) Some of the panels on the inside are kind of dinged up, and look like crap. Mainly the "fiber" ones(not sure if Kevlar or fiberglass). Is there any way to remove the panels without messing up the body? I notice they're riveted in there. But I also notice that they're on "solid" aluminum pieces. Thinking of maybe putting some Dynamat or other sound deadener/insulation in there to help with the A/C that I plan on installing.

4) How about the "benches", where the litters sit? Any way to remove those without cutting them out?

5) The heater system is just that, a HEATING system, right? Not a dual Heat/A/C unit? (Pretty sure I know the answer to that one, but want to double tap.)

I'm sure I'll have more questions come up as time goes on, and I delve further into this project.

Thanks for any insight you can give me.

And, what's a post without some pictures?

Sounds like a lot of work.

To make the body fit in the trailer you are going to have to remove the front overhang and lengthen the trailer frame and of tongue.

The litters sit on top of the wheel wells.

For lights I would go with modern LED's
