there will be a machine gun shoot and explosives demonstration the weekend of June 18th/19th. There will also be a military vehicle showing, the chance to shoot all types of machine guns, a mini gun, a flame thrower, etc., a nightfire tracer shoot and more. I spoke with Neil Connoly and he said anybody bringing a MV will get free admission for them and their family. Contact Neil for more details and the passes.

see you there! :freaked: www.mustangrange.com [thumbzup]

I'll probably drive the M1009. Hopefully the weather stays like it has been and will be nice and cool (well without the rain part). If you've never been there just listen for the sound of a minigun belching and you'll know when you're getting close :)

Anybody else going? It's getting closer, can't wait. Just a note, although it is called Mustang Range...it would probably be better named Silver Springs Range.

Wish you could make it too....it's a BLAST (intentional pun). Ya won't see my camera out there though, I'm going to be following Curtis around begging to fire the latest M60 model, that and the "moon dust" out there is hell on cameras. Plan to wash your truck for several days afterwards and replace the air cleaner.

thanks for the heads up, think I'll bring my digital, it's time for new one anyway [^]

I've heard there is a Sparks, NV centennial parade that day and they invited MV owners [:(!] it's gonna take away from some of those that would go to Mustang, but I'll still be there

update- the show runs til about midnight on Saturday, and 8-9PM sunday, so iuf you can't make one day maybe you can make the next? From what I hear it's quite a big showing, upwards of 2,000 people. Alot better than the crowd at the VA radiothon, huh Fred? :)

Okay, so Monster Man is going, Polverone was going to try and make it, anyone else going? Sounds like the weather is going to be perfect. I'm going on Saturday, have to meet a contractor in Truckee in the AM, then a few things to do and meet up with someone in Sun Valley then off to the range in the afternoon.

Dang! I made it as far as Mammoth Lakes to deliver my brothers truck to him and immediately had to turn around and head home. I have so many design jobs to get done it isn't funny. I hate it when work gets in the way of fun. :banghead:
But, too much work sure beats no work. :shakehead:
Be sure to give us a synopsis of the carryings on there. More jealous than you know.

Some pictures would really be grand.

Believe me, I know exactly what you mean!!!! Work always gets in the way of my fun...except yesterday. Finally got to meet Lance MonsterMan at the shoot. Wish I'd had more time to talk with him. I did get a good look at his deuce and I must say it is sharp looking that's for sure. Oh forgot to tell him that as we walked by it I could hear the fuel pump running and then the low air buzzer came on so I reached in and shut the power switch off for you. I don't like to touch other peoples stuff but since nobody was around thought it might be a good idea. Anyway, it was a great time for sure, we were there until about 11:30PM and things wound down. The best entertainment of all was when the parachute flare went goofy, landed on the tin awning and burned through. Another MV friend of mine showed up with his HK91 but was having trouble with the extractor spring so wasn't there all that long.

thanks Bill! Man I sure have been forgetful about that lately, I did it at Jack in the Box that night too :) Yeah, we split early, we got to thinking about the one lane out of there, and didn't want to hold up traffic, so we took off after about 30 minutes of night fire. Man, that sure was cool though! [:)]

For anybody that couldn't make it, be sure to this October 8th and 9th, there will be another one. And, bring your MV and get free admission, and probably a free subgun shoot. The organizers were wonderful and treated us great, definitely worth the drive, and I hate driving the deuce at night. It was great, wish I'd have made it sunday as well. Another Reno MV, an up armored HMMWV made it later but I wish Bill could have made it with the M1009 [^] I'm lucky the deuce made it there and back with no problems! Great fun

Didn't snap any pics, but I did get a bunch of little video clips, the coolest of which was the flamethrower. Stay tuned.

I'll see if I can dig up the right on/off switch lever for you. It has a long arm off the other end that gets in the way of the stop engine cable, forcing you to shut the power off before being able to kill the engine. I know I saw a couple of them in the bottom of a box a few weeks back.
You guys missed out on the parachute flare melting through the sheet metal awning then? Man, that was scary at first, looked as if it was heading right into the crowd but landed on top of the awning. After seeing nobody was close to getting hurt it was pretty funny after that, and then when it burned right through the sheet metal :jumpin: :jumpin: :jumpin:
