Manual pedal swap, where to drill?

Yesterday got my entire old pedal assembly out, now I'm looking at the firewall, not sure where to drill the holes for the master cylinder. Supposedly there's an indent for it.
Speedometer cable looks like it might be in the way?

I've got a lot of that goop on the engine side, I thought the master cylinder bolts were parallel to the ground?

The bolt holes are at an angle. I can see the 3 dimples in the picture in your first post so they must be under that coating.

They definitely aren't the correct size, I hope they are in the right place.

Does it matter how exact the master cyl is mounted? How much lee-way do I have?

The hole I think you are seeing in my pic is one that looks to have been used to mount the electrical connector block to the firewall. It lines up with it.

The master cylinder has to be in the right spot for the rod to line up and the required supports to go in the bolt holes. I’m not talking about the hole through the firewall, all three dimples are above that in your photo. The middle one is barely visable.

I have the supports so I can match a drill bit to that, do you happen to know the size of hole saw needed for the cylinder itself?

It’s too hard to measure on a truck. If you don’t have a master cylinder to measure I can dig one out and look.

Can't find any master cyls at local parts stores, so might have to order one.

I hope I didn't just destroy my firewall.
Got my hands on a master cyl and the holes do not line up at all. Also the whole thing is at an angle.
Any reason why the dimples don't line up properly?

Well, the dimples definitely aren't perfect. I elected to keep the mounting holes in the same place and change the main hole position. Not very clean, but clamped securely.




Now I just have to figure out how to reinstall the steering column...

Everythings back together now. Easily the most annoying part of this swap so far.
