Just picked up a M35A2 at the GL. It looks like the main data plate has been replaced?? It's NSN 2320-00-077-161 (I assume that's standard), the ID No. is blank, the MFD By is blank, and the contract number is blank. The GL paperwork says it's serial number 525-11206. Can any please help me find the manufacture year and help to fill in the blank information.

Thank you!

By the by, I'v e seen lots of serial number detailed information posted and can't figure out how you guys are finding it. Is it you folks still in the military that has access to this information?

Thanks again.

Check the frame number and post it. The data plates on some trucks don't match the frame number and it looks like yours has had the data plate "tampered" with. I would trust the data plate or what GL says the S/N is.

When you get the frame number post it. Someone here will let you know the year.

There may be a casting date on the right side of Continental and White engine blocks. Look under the data plate. The bottom series is a date. Keep in mind the engine may have been replaced. Mine is ?-70 suggesting it was completed around 71. That seems to agree with the AM General name, and what I put in the SF97. Here is a similar example from someone else here.
