Just got a letter that Fort Knox GL is under new management. Now they want me to clear up the record for the removal of my property.

I don't wish anybody out of a job, but Marcus was generally undependable.

Yep, I got the same contact.

I called the GL lady who e-mailed me; while I had her on the phone I asked her what was going to happen to all those trucks still in Frankfort. She said they're all being shipped to Huntsville, AL. :-(

Oh well, so much for trying for a winch truck.

I hope not...there are 53 trucks still available there. I actually scoped out a few of them already.

Wonder what the hauling bill would be? It would take 27 loads.

She said that, including some others in Greenville, KY, over 100 trucks need to be hauled from KY to Huntsville.

I offered to take a couple off their hands and save them the trouble. I guess it don't work that easy...

Redstone is at Huntsville.....they are now a regional sales center for vehicles.......and yes our tax dollars are paying to ship the vehicles there.
I bought some deuces from there last year that had been shipped in from up north (Ind, Ohio and Ill,). I had spoken to a driver that was bringing the trucks in and he told me what the freight rate was.
I was buying them for less than the freight cost to ship them to Redstone.
I sold one to a guy in Ohio that had to have it shipped back to Ohio......he called me later and said the truck had came from a NG unit 20 miles from his house........great use of the Federal Budget  .
GL is behind all this since they can lay off employees at the smaller locations and make more money. They must have a lot of clout with the DRMO folks.

**** I wish I had the skill's to gather all the crap that GL does with our money, both from sales and from the Gov. side and form a letter that everyone here can copy and email to their respective congressman. Things need to change. I know compared to the $$$ that being thrown around now this seems like chump change to them, but this just makes my blood boil.

Edit:  back to your regularly scheduled thread.

I know there's three sides to every story, but the GL lady I talked to said it was the C.O. at Boone to blame--that they'd love to just sell them from Frankfort but he wants them out of there NOW!

So is Ft Campbell.

I was told a while ago by GL that there is a scrap contract at Redstone that a bunch of trucks were being shipped to... I also saw somebody on here mention it in one thread right after the first hold occurred. That was why I asked if Redstone was at Huntsville.

It's gotta be costing 1 k plus per truck to move them.

Well maybe some SS taxpayers need to set up an appointment with the C.O. and the press to let him know just who is paying to move trucks off his base just so they can be sold somewhere else at a loss to the taxpayers. If GL has the facilities and the personel to auction off surplus from there then there is absolutely no need for the tax payers to move those trucks. Im willing to bet that there is more than one empty lot on that base that they could put a fence around and store them.

It is an 800 acre open field with a runway in the middle. They have plenty of room; if it has to do with the CO it is because GL has burned one too many bridges with them. I am sure he/she did not like that Gl would make a preview appointment and then not show up and his/her MPs were left to escort people on and off of base to look at trucks.

buy from our(notice I said OUR) own government because it might get in the wrong hands! ............DEMILL? ........

Great:roll: Guess whos paying to ship those trucks. (its not GL Ill tell you that much)
My understanding from talking to one DRMO manager and GL reps from two different regions is that if the property is still DRMO's the government pays shipping. If it has been transferred to GL then GL pays or reimburses for shipping.

Like others I've watched trucks go from the NYARNG to Mechanicsburg, PA on the government's dime, get sent on to Richmond, VA on GL's dime and then get shipped back to Fort Drum, NY when Richmond was overcrowded, again on GL's dime.

A couple of years ago I bought a CTARNG truck that went through that exact goofiness. All the bill's of lading were in the truck. The truck was a very clean freshly painted M35A2C w/w and hardtop and the total of shipping costs was half again what I paid for the truck.

Last year a bunch of NYARNG M915A1s were shipped to Mechanicsburg on the federal dime and then back to Drum on GL's dime and sold in the $2300-2,500 range. I'll bet the shipping was close to the gross.

I believe that most GL sales go into the red and any waves made will just stop future sales since it is only done as a service to us the taxpayer .
Think about it how can they possibly do all the paperwork staging and coronation for the price we can buy for .
if you do not understand this you have never done any taxpayer funded contracts .
The paperwork costs more than the product you are delivering 2cents
