Hi,

I have just painted my m342 dump truck and I want to mark it up like they were in the US army in Vietnam. Anyone have any tips on what I can mark it with ? Want to mark it with some kind of transport(engineer) company and maybe 4E and numers on the side of the hood?

What do you think ?

Thank you

I think the paint job came out nice, now just the placards/unit markings. A quick google search will reveal all kinds of Vietman era photos.
Nice work.

The unit designation is displayed on the passenger's side of the front bumper, the unit's fleet number on the driver's side, usually preceeded by the letter designation of the unit or some other letter designation such as "B 267," or "TMP 267," or TK 267," or whatever the owning unit's SOP was. The registration number and US Army were painted on the sides of the hood and stayed with the vehicle throughout it's career. Unit number and bumper numbers would change if the vehicle changed unit of assignment. In RVN era numbers were gloss white, when camo schemes came out in 1970's numbers went to black latter with a tan background and the registration number was omitted.
