Mechanic in Houston and an cab air bag question

I have a 2003 M1078 A-1

My low air pressure buzzer is doing it's thing although I have good air pressure front and rear. The buzzer is staying on 95% of the time but also turns off briefly when I drive over bumps. Sounds almost like a loose electrical connection.

Possibly related, one of my cab air bags is leaking. I ordered a new set from Eastern Surplus but my shade tree mechanic with little LMTV experience is unable to install them. He's convinced they are the wrong type while Eastern Surplus is adamant that they are correct.

Either way I'd like to find a competent mechanic in Houston. Anyone have a good contact?

Not sure about mechanics in Houston, though plenty of folks in Texas may be able to offer advice or assistance. Post a photo of what Eastern sent you?

Have you checked the troop alarm switch in your bed? It is also connected to the audible alarm, page 7 line 182 in the schematic—

Make sure it's not the troop alarm or cable making the buzzer go off. It's usually attached to the head board of the bed and is known for this issue.
Thanks in advance. Attached are pics of the original and the new. Seems the issue is the red circled “male” protrusion woth bolt and nut circled in red.

The new bags have nothing inside.

The cab suspension is both air bags and shocks, as you see in your take offs. Not sure what you purchased, though those look like the cab air bags. You likely need the shocks, too. When we replaced ours, only the shock bushings were bad, our air bags hold air—

The shocks are easy to remove from the airbag and installation is not bad. When I replaced the airbags on mine there were no shocks available at the time. I got lucky and found my shocks were still in decent shape, so I just installed them in the new airbags. There is just a pin holding the shock inside the airbag

With an o-ring under the bands? Right, you don't cut the bands, theshock slides out?

Can't thank you guys enough. Not knowing the answer myself, I had asked my mechanic about the parts separating and he said it was impossible.
Seems I need a new mechanic more than anything else. So the "male" center portion with the single bolt and nut is the shock?

@Lugnuts posted a video showing how they come apart in the first few minutes.


I haven't found where someone (@flyfishtrailer ?) said not to cut the bands.

We replaced our airbags and shocks with the OEM style from MME, not the new style ones. Our old bags are good and hoping to rebuild with new bushing and shocks as needed for spares—
Done and Done. This explains it all. Thank you guys.
