Guys I’m at a complete loss here. I can not find glow plugs or a Source to purchase beside green mountain generators. They have 1 in stock @ $125 each.

from what I’ve read the correct part number is the champion 182ch42 plug

7/16x20 thread

every single glow plug I’m finding that the same overall length and tip length is all m10x1.0

I can’t find anything standard size. Everything is metric.

all the old forums mention several outlets to buy them but a lot has changed in 10years. Links expired, sources have discontinued, everything is obsolete now.

anyone have some updated information on getting some darn plugs?
Guyfang you’re the best and have helped me numerous times. I know you’ll find this post just like the others.
God bless you my friend as well as the rest of the incredibly talented members of this forum.

Guy, I am also interested in this thread since I need at least two and maybe 4 of these glow plugs. But I don't understand your post? Is it a far sale post or just a general info post in case you find them? And what about the Champion 182 CH 42? Are they viable or not?

I just did a whole bunch of searching and came up empty other than to find out those Champions are discontinued. If the only difference was the thread then I would re-tap the head. But if they are also going to disappear there is no sense in doing that.

There are e-bay sellers that have them...

Well, I looked up the Wellman's on Epay and snagged two of them. I could not get a definite answer on the Champions being a direct match so I jumped on these. Said there were ten left and 6 people put them in their wishlists. If I have learned one thing over the last few years it is to grab it when you can when it comes to short supply items.

Yup, I had done a lot of research a while ago looking for alternate PN's and unfortunately I did not find anything that was readily available that was comparable as a drop in replacement to the OEM glow plugs.
The Champion 182 CH42 are correct but discontinued. I found a listing for like $15 that said they were in stock but when I placed an order I got a message about 3 days later saying my order was canceled.
the Wellerman 6A843G042K are correct and so are the onan 333-0107.
But be warned, the Champion CH41 and Onan 333-0106 look identical but they are 12V glow plugs and will burn up in your 24V 002/003 unless you modify your wiring.
As far as I could tell, $50 ea. was about the cheapest you can find the correct glow plugs these days.
Too bad because I had about 30 of them a couple years ago and sold them all for like $25ea. and now kick myself for not keeping at least 4!

My current solution to starting on really cold days is to just use a propane torch and direct the heat from the torch not into but in front of the air cleaner so the heat is drawn in while cranking. This has always worked well for me. Tedious yes, more cranking than usual yes, but it works. It basically fools the engine into thinking it is nice a warm out. Once it starts it will cuss you out by stumbling and coughing smoke but it does stay running and it evens out in a minute or so. I do not switch the load on until it has run for five minutes at least. I should point out that you need to have the air cleaner set for hot weather mode for this to work so air is drawn in from the outside inlet and not from inside the cowl. Once running I slide it back to cold mode.

I just looked all through the interweb and I only found a pack of ten Champion CH42's in Europe. None at all here in the states. Are you sure you got the right ones? As Ray said the CH42 are correct but the CH41 are 12 volt.

I just got my Wellman's in yesterday, I am sure I paid substantially more than you did for the Champions. I hope you got the right ones!
Still had the government sticker on the factory packaging with the NSN.
Yes, their the correct ones.
eBay is a crap shoot on finding things.
When I’m looking and needing something, nothing to be found or priced like it’s gold.

When not in need, I see several sellers, all at good prices.
