Hello, I have a MEP-006A. Having a few issues with it. First, if I hold the start switch the gen cranks but doesn’t start, I have to pull the dead crank in order to get it to start. Secondly the generator pushes out volts but does not turn on anything when connected and none of the gauges work. I recently replaced the Voltage regulator and now it pushes out volts but once again it does turn on anything. Any suggestions on what to check! Thank you in advance !

Can you further explain where and how you are measuring voltage? Are you seeing voltage at the courtesy outlet?
And you get nothing on any of the gages, volts or Hz?
I assume you mean you have a load connected to the terminal lugs but you are not getting power to the lugs when you close the main load contactor switch?
Knowing where you are seeing the voltage will make a big difference in how to troubleshoot.

so the picture with the volts are at the terminal lugs . None of the volts or hZ gauges work. If I put my multi meter on the lugs for example ground and L1 I’ll get AC voltage like 187VAC. Sorry for the confusion

I don't see any pictures, did you intend to attach a pic. of you measuring voltage?
It sounds like you ARE getting voltage at the lugs, so what do you mean by "not turning anything on"?
It's not powering your load or the gages are just not "turning on"?
Also, where is your AC board positioned, are you on low voltage or high?

And it’s not powering my load nor do the gauges work. And I’m not to sure where or what the AC board is .

You're not producing electricity by the looks.
Looking at your meter I believe you only have 334 millivolts, not 120 , 208 0r whatever you have it set on.
That would explain why your gages aren't reading anything.
Where were you measuring 187 Volts?
Are you following the start procedure in the operators manual?
You need to hold the switch according to the instructions to flash the generator's field winding.
If you are holding it do the gages read anything while you are holding the switch with the engine running and voltage disappears when you release the switch, or is there never anything showing on the gages?

You need to fix one problem at a time.

Have you downloaded the TM's?
Do you understand how to read the DMM, (Multimeter)?
Please read the operators TM for proper starting procedures.

Lets look at the starting problem first. Using the S22, (Dead crank switch) is not the way to start the set. And that requires that you know a little more about the set. What fault lights are lit on the Fault Indicator when you simply put the S2, (Start Switch) in the run position? What lights are on when its running? When you place the S2 in the run position, and the S7, (Battle Short Switch) in the up position, do the Electric fuel pumps come on?

yes sir I have read the TM on the start procedure. And I’m a beginner on all of this. There are no fault light when in run or when running. The battle short is in the down position and yes you can hear the electric fuel pump turn on.
