Mep 016A still kicking

I bought this one on GL several years ago, all I had to do was clean the carb and change the oil and she has been a reliable runner ever since, it had about 200 hours on it when I got it, now showing about 259. Haven't really used it much last couple of years, so I got it out today to do a little service.

I store it with no fuel in the tank or carb, a little prime and some gas and she fired right off. I know these are old school now(loud, noisy) but I still like it as it is semi-portable and has been very reliable.

Did a little load test today and everything looked great, but then the percent load meter took a dump, need to figure that out, but still makes good power. I'm still proud of this unit it was my first gennie and thought I would share it here. If I recall correctly it cost me 130 bucks from Hooks.

Thanks, appreciate that. I saw where a guy put a tecumseh carb on a 016, it would run but dont know how you could run the gov linkage.

Saw that. Don’t know how it worked out though. I know I find a cure someday. Just hate to see it sit till then. Only has 49 hours. Runs GE rest when it ran. Was buying carbs from Saturn. But I think they are out now

Yeah last time i called he said he was out. I have new carbs for the mep 017 and 018, they are still out there.

I've got a 2a016 running with the float sealed. I used "aerogloss" I have one I need to try that I sealed with Redkote as well.

Just what is wrong with your carbs? Also, have you tried to find the repair kit for them? We ordered both, in the hopes of getting one or the other. I had good results with a big bottle of carb cleaner and dropping the parts of a funky carb into it for a few days.

These people also supplied the carbs to the army. AND, I looked and found that there is STILL a system in the military that uses this carb. A helicopter refueling system. I believe, (but my brain is like swiss cheese!!) Light In The Dark is employed by L-3. Send him a PM and ask if he can get smart about this thing.
