Is it me or is this price normal? It seems really expensive for a 400hz set.

It is the latest and greatest genset family - so that might drive some of it.

But not much use to most of us.

Someone may want it just for the engine, I am not sure what engine is in there, but with only 30 something hours on the meter it might be a deal after all it is a 30KW generator so probably a 3 or 4 cylinder engine, being 1990's vintage it is likely an adaptation of an off the shelf engine. I know from pricing them rebuilt John Deere Diesels for a similar age 30KW Kohler generator go for around $4500 or so.

Most of the 30 KW units were a six cylinder engine, and the 15 KW units were fours. Basically the same engine design, just two more cylinders, IIRC. Too bad it is not 50/60 Hz!
