Mep-803 question

Hi, I just bought another 803 to have as a backup. This one has "IP" painted on it. Does anyone know why they paint letters on them and what it would mean by any chance?

Also, the diesel fuel hose coming off the fuel rail has a leak. Is that 1/4" hose? And should I dremel off the outer metal cap so I can get a hose clamp to tighten it dow properly?

The standard advice here on the forum is to replace fuel hoses as leaking seems to be common. There’s info posted by @Daybreak for this and consumables. I have no idea what IP means other than injection pump.

That fuel line is crimped on. If you're delicate about things, you can remove it and use reg hose and a clamp unless you really want a new assembly. You should read the other posts about replacing the return lines too.

Howdy, The MEP-8xx series of generator all use diesel fuel return lines. After sometimes sitting with no fuel, or heat cold, no-use etc... they start to fail. The main issue is the lines start weeping fuel. NSN 4720-01-483-6467 part N20353.5 HOSE, NONMETALLIC Name Value...

Very common issue. Had to replace those on my 802.
Replace the hose with a piece that's longer so that it's not bent so sharply when installed.
This will help with cracking down the road.

The IP is probably 1P and is just an inventory marker for the people at DRMO, Richie Bros., or the unit disposing of it.

Yes to 1/4" primary hose, yes to dremeling off and replacing with a hose clamp. Yes to doing the returns at the same time. Spray paint probably has no obvious meaning tied to the machine.
