CR1 failures are fairly common.
The circuit design of the generator is incorrect IMHOP. It's current limited by a 7.5 amp circuit breaker. Up to 7.5 amps thru a 3 amp diode.... not good.

Perhaps we need to consider making a list of suggested "upgrades" if you will?

Any reason not to solder three in parallel? Or use a 20A10?

Putting diodes in parallel is not good practice. You can have uneven current distribution across the group which can over stress one relative to the others. Its best to use a single higher current diode.
