Greetings all, I am new to forum and my spelling is usually horribel.

Purchased a 803a several months ago, white smoke at start up-didn't load test at POS.
FF today, load tested after purchase with misfire under load, pop and leak back tested injectors myself ok, no resolve.
Replaced fuel pump, no resolve,
Replaced injetor FRL-rotted,
thought long and hard searched this site and TM-s.
Forklift friend said check head-not trying to making a compression tester.
Pulled and this is what I observed:
#3 is wet
you can see the break in the top down photo of the bore.
Making steam.

This is a 2000 unit with 25 hrs when purchased and 35 today.
I dont think it was rebuilt, I have installed the mods, no tool marks. makes power.

With head off I figured to check lap on valves-

head gasket included

This valve is out of round in bore and only grinding on 1 side?
I was expecting thin grind band on all of them.
This one is out of wack or?
all the rest had a thin band but some were excessively wide?

WTH lowest bidder? or what?

Water leak in #3 , valve issue in #2.......

Thanks all-

If yours smokes white till warm ---- or misses during load/warm, one of these issues may be the ticket-

For the valve video it was hard to see the lap area so I made my own version of prussian blue with china sharpie.

Should be more clear how off axis the seating area is from the stem this valve is:

Since china sharpie worked Im going to order some china valves, Does anyone have any experience with the aftermarket version?

Put it all back togther, primed in a few 10s cranks and fired. Smoked heavy white at start - figured it was oil burning off from oil in valve stem when i installed.

Put i at about 100% load on average for about 2H Here is a thermal of exhaust, took from different angles so that differences can be seen at different measurement points.

Probably not going to bother adjusting pumps to even temp, going to call it close enough. There are no tool marks on the nuts or any paint so-

Started the next day with light white smoke for a min. or so- I can live with that.

Here is a thermal video with it about half warmed up, notice header is more uniform in color instead of hotter out of #3. Now #2 is working better:

I have read several post about the color of paint used on the engines and a carefull read of the wiki site:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lister_Petter

says that: "They generally, but not exclusively, leave the factory in a Mid Brunswick Green colouring. "

It looks to be the color I have and is avaliable from overseas.

I dont think diesel will mess with this paint once applied properly.

Those push rod tubes were difficult to get into the new rubbers going to/suggest soaking them in oil for at least 24 hrs prior to install.
Those $60-$70 gasket sets are really rough but they work, valve cover gaskets didn't fit exact and exhaust manifold gaskets intefere with them, or vice versa depending on point of view....

This site has been a great help to me in getting this thing going.
I now have a 40 hour continuous duty gen, that should last a lifetime.
I appreciate all the contributors that help others, it certainly has helped me!

Hope this helps someone else~
