Any ideas for why I get the low voltage warning unless I hold the start switch in the start position? The engine seems to be running fine. I did replace the fuel anyway. It was only about a year old.

Has the generator produced power properly for you in the past?

Generally that symptom indicates a failure in one or more of the AC Voltage Regulation system components.
Those parts being:
- A1 AC Voltage Regulator
- T1 Transformer
- R1 AC Voltage Adjust potentiometer on the front panel
- Resistor R16 on the back of the 50/60 HZ Frequency Select Switch.

I'd suggest performing the AC Voltage Regulator tests as specified in the -24 TM.
The TM's are available in the TM download section of the forum.

The 804's were built with two different AC Voltage Regulation systems referred to the LIBBY and TRC systems.
Each uses different components for the 4 listed above so be sure to use the correct tests in the -24 TM.
