Mep 831a circuit interrupter light is off

I have no power.i opened the cover lid and found a black magnet looking thing.there were 3 wires hook to it that were burned.
Should I just cut the wires and add a jumper ,or should I replace the black object .
Where can I get parts for this unit.

Did you ever see this gen set work right?
