Mep004 frequency meter issue

I fired my 004 up over the weekend and noticed the frequency meter was not registering. I put my multimeter on the output terminals and had good 60 hz once I adjusted the throttle. Is this a common issue? I have not had any other issues out of it. I am thinking of just putting a digital meter in place of the analog meter.

Thanks.

Open up the control panel. Find the frequency transducer. I believe to to wires on the left side should be AC. Measure with your multimeter for approx 120 volts. Got volts? Good. Then measure the two wires on the right side. You should get DC voltage there. Read the TM for how much volts, but if you get something, that means tha the gage is bad. If you get no DC output, the freq transducer is bad.

There are some in fleabay. You might also PM Superman. He might have one. You might also consider installing something non military. There are several threads here in SS that contain info on doing just that. Depends on if you want to keep the set "stock" or not.

Look up the part number and NSN, put it in your browser. Do not confine your search to MEP-004A only. This transducer fits EVERYTHING, from the -002A to the -006A Or go straight to Fleabay.

Personally, I would try Superman first.
