The only part bad on my 1040 was the fuel level sensor. I had read there was a recall on the original part and a replacement was issued. I could not source the new part anywhere so I found the original on fleebay and its been working fine for more than a year.
Original Fuel sending unit part: A026J499 or Nsn 6680-01-651-7526

Replacement model number A054f059. When i tried to order at cummins it was out of stock. This is pre pandemic btw.

Ohh, before I forget, you have to tear down half of the unit to get to the sender. 🥵
Thats what I was wondering, was how hard it was to get to the sender? I'm guessing you have to take the fuel tank out?

Mind helping with a link on what I need to buy. Mine is reading 0%, even though the tank is full. The generator will crank up and run for a couple seconds, and then shut down, I'm assuming because of the low fuel reading...
Don't know if you already replaced it but if it happens again just unplug it and it will not read the fuel but it will let you start the generator, i just bought my 2nd one the first 1 was the replacement to the original and went bad in a couple of months of using it.
