MEP802 oil pressure switch wiring

Just got a 802 as a quieter backup to my 003 when I don't need 10KW. Going thru it I had to replace fuel sending unit and gauge and while looking for a possible fuel leak I noticed that the oil pressure 'switch' three wire was not connected. 'Oil gauge is working fine' Also noticed two wires in the harness near the switch were cut ( no terminal ends). Any one know why this might be? Schematic only shows a two wire connection. The three wire switch I assume has a no/nc configuration.

Were those two cut wires twisted together? I am not all that familiar with that machine but on the 003 and 2 that would be an oil pressure safety switch. They are known to go bad and engine will not run due to a perceived lack of oil pressure. Your gauge is probably wired through the electronics to a different sender.

You are correct the oil pressure sender circuit is all electrical (not like the 003) and works fine. I am familiar with the 003 oil switch. One of the reasons you have to hold the start switch till pressure builds. This 802 starts and runs fine (so far). I see others with the red and black wires hooked up to the two in the harness. I just want to see is there is a valid reason that they would not be connected on this one before I put connectors on them and get a surprise.

You will have one unused wire on the switch. Its a multi-tap, can be configured as a NO or a NC switch depending on how its connected. No issue there.

On cut wires, look at the actual wire sheathing, there should be number info printed on it every couple of inches. That's your key to tracking down where it should end (and where it starts).
