i think that the fuel pump is bad. ran the generator last night for the first time in a couple of months. after a few minutes of running it turned off. i went through the section 5 - troubleshooting 2-11 in the technical manual, specifically "cranks but fails to start".

the fuel pump is the old square kind. purchased a new round one. when the S1 switch is in prime/run i can hear the pump making a high-pitched noise, not the usual clicking.

IS it possible that something other than the pump is bad? something i may have overlooked?

You can put a dvom on the connections for the fuel pump and see if any power is getting there. The old hit it with a hammer and see if the regular ticking noise returns is a good way too. I've found many problems with a light tap on things in the past.

yes it does receive power. if i rotate S1 on/off a little squirt of fuel comes out of the disconnected hard line on the pump

Here's a pretty good thread on finding a pump.

Even if whacking the pump gets it going again, do yourself a favor and get rid of that Facet Cube pump.... it's guaranteed to let you down at the least opportune moment!
I'm actually a bit surprised it quit on you during a periodic test..... usually they wait for the start of an extended power outage to crap out! ;)
