I have recently installed a remote start controller on my machine and i am wanting to be able to remotely access it but having trouble port forwarding it through the router i need help finding the right ports

A few details like brand and models would help of the remote start controller, and whatever else you are trying to do with the WiFi.

using kurt's remote start setup i can access everything just fine on the router when i'm logged on to it but i need remote access to it but having trouble with the port forwarding

You would be better off in my opinion to use an VPN to tunnel back to your router. Many routers support it out of the box, you don't want some random person accessing your generator. just my 2 cents on it

Even if you could figure out how to port forward 80 to Kurt's remote you DONT WANT to. 80 is a standard internet traffic port and home users often can't forward 80 anyway (business accounts often can). It's a huge security risk to do so directly. You can transpose another random port to 80 on the remote start device but that's a bit out of the scope of the average user.

'Security through obscurity' also isn't really worth much of anything. It'll fool a really, really, seriously, incredibly lazy bot, or a really lazy amateur port scanning manually.

Which is probably like 0.00000000000001% of threats out there.
