Michelin 11.00x20 tire pressure

My 109 came with 11.00 x 20 Michelin XL's and the sidewall says to inflate them to max 115 psi. Since I will not be running the truck at neat the max load rating, I thought I would drop them back to 90 psi. I see where others are running them at 75 or even 60 psi. Anybody with long term use of these tires and what did you run them at. I would like to get maximum wear out of them. Thanks, Randy.

I run 60 in mine on the deuce, 90 on the M818.

Wow I will have to go out and look at mine. I usually run 60 in mine, but now will look at the sidewall to see what they say.

He is correct, they say 115. I am running 70 front and rear on a M35A2 W/W. It plants the front tires nicely, leaves a good track and steers very nicely. 70 in the rears seems to be way too much, they are riding on the center three rows of tread and the outer lugs do not contact the road. I am going to try 55 in the rears. I had it full of railroad ties today and the tire sidewalls were not flexing at all. What a driving difference they made though! I have been driving on them since April 1. It is very firm in the rear, I am sure I have too much capacity for a light truck. Glen

Been running 65 psi up front and 45psi on the back 8.
Have considered upping the front to 70, 60 was a little soft.
This combo drives really nice on the blacktop.

The 45psi out back is running empty, and mine is a M36A2 (long bed Deuce) that weighs about @ 16,000

TP Should be adjusted to your realy needs. For the correct pressure ask the Micheline tire technical manual, which should be some thing between 350 kPa(1500 lbs per tire) and 850 kPa (7000 lbs per tire), depending on the load. In sand and mud depending on speed this may be reduced to some 150 or 200 kPa. Note: to hight tire pressure will reduce your brake performance due to smaller road contact surface!

The column with the higher per axle load weights is for dual tires (4 tires per axle) so if it shows up in a jumble when you read it you should be able to figure it out. Note near the bottom of the page where the guy is asking for pictures.

Hi Lance,

I forwarded your email to our Military Products department; here is a copy
of his response:

If the load per tire is 3000 pounds (6,000 pounds per axle) your highway
inflation pressure should be 43 psi (cold) and mud/sand/snow pressure should
be 23 psi (cold) with the speed being limited to 19 mph. For 4000 pounds
per tire (8,000 pounds per axle), 60 psi (cold) highway, 35 psi (cold)
mud/sand/snow, again with the speed being limited to 19 mph.
