Need help from MN guys.... I've been waiting since Oct 17th 2011 for my M35A3 title.

I submitted my SF97 and the assignment paper and got patriotic one ton plates. In February 2012 I get a letter to surrender the plates for Y plates and submit photos of the vehicle.
I do so, about 2 weeks ago I get another letter to submit photos. I do so of the vehicle and VIN on the frame. I get a letter today that I need to have the truck inspected for VIN and street legal as non commercial!!!!!!!! I'm about half out of my mind now. To top it off when I submitted the photos the second time I asked them to expedite my title as I've been waiting 8 months now for my freaking title, they tell me I have to pay $20 additional!!!!!!

Question for those who bought their M35's from GL, did you have to go through this inspection crap, or is this some incompetent lazy ignorant overpaid government workers idea of customer service?????
The VIN and weight were on the SF97 for crying out loud. Is this inspection normal or should I raise holy **** with ST. Paul or take this crap to another registrar that knows how to get things done?
Thanks for your help.

I have run three SF97's through the DMV in White Bear Lake. They seem to have lots of experience with Mil trucks as mine where all processed fast and no issue. Get her done in White Bear.

Pete, so you got your title without the inspection hoop? registering the 6 digit VIN? Thanks Bob

UPDATE: I called the DVS when I got off hold, spoke to someone that sounds like she knows what's she doing. She requested a lookup of the original forms which contain the VIN and weight, she said there's no reason to request the inspection if the SF97 contains that info and will issue the title without the inspection once they pull them up(1-2 weeks!) Finally someone competent!

Yup-no hassle, no inspection-just the paper work (bring cash). Just hand them the SF97 and use the value they put on it-mine where something like $1,500. They will give you a choice on the weight to register it at as well. The gals at White Bear are actually decent to work with. There are two that are sort of good looking as well.
When I did mine on two separate occasions, they wisked me through like they had done it a million times-note that I did this on Sat mornings. Maybe a different crew-not sure. Go on Saturday right after they open up. I registered my 5-ton as a farm truck-no hassles-no issues.

This has gotten absurd. They did the lookup, vin is verified on my SF97 but they still want the inspection to verify it's street legal!!!!! I asked them to check their databases for M35A2 and M35A3 vehicles to see there are 100's if not thousands in the state legally owned and driven. she told me they can't search by vehicle type, but if I supply a vin or plate number from another driving in the state they can look that up to see how it was processed. This is so unreal.

No, I think it's past that stage in the game. If your help doesn't work(It should), I'll head over there and see if they can talk some sense into St. Paul. One thing's for sure if I buy another MV, I'm going to White bear for sure. Will let you know if it pans out. Thanks Pete.

Going to scream soon. Even after she looked up vin and weight on sf97 and verifed there are others registered via hoeflers vin, she said her supervisor still thinks inspection needed!!!! He said they must of made a mistake. I guess the hundreds of others in this state must of been done wrong too, according to this supervisor that obviously dosn't know squat! Errrrrrrrr. Contacting White Bear tomorrow to see if they can help or give me a competent experienced with mv's person in St. Paul for my title.
Then lawyering up if I have any trouble with some cop telling me it's not street legal if I have to go to an inspection station.. I've about reached my end with this %^&%^$^***((*(

I would just tell them you decided to sell the truck and demand all your paperwork back (sf-97) and take it to the White Bear DMV. I would also pay the extra $20 and 'fasttrack" it and you will have a title in 2-3 days.

Good idea-pull yourself from St Paul cake eaters and go to White Bear. St Paul has you in a rabbit hole that is getting deeper. Bring box of donuts for those guys as an offering and get out while you can.

Good idea but probably take longer to get my stuff back than to do the unnecessary inspection.....

I spoke to the ladies at White Bear, they said at this point they recommend just go through the inspection, so that's what I'm going to do before I have a heart attack from the pent up anger. I called Mora and spoke with an inspector, he said he's never inspected a deuce and a half, but has driven them, he said they're really just verifying the VIN. so it sounds like it's not going to be an issue. Just my time fuel and inconvenience that's unnecessary if a certain person in St. Paul had their head out of their %^$.

Now I have to wait for photocopies of the original title transfer papers that were supposed to be included with the letter I got so I can make an apppintment for the inspection. INCOMPETENT people at the DVS!

Thanks for your help guys and allowing me to vent.

Conclusion of my saga. Took the deuce to the inspection. The inspector was a Vietnam vet who drove these and wreckers ect in the war. We BS'ed longer than it took for him to verify the Vin and weight class and fill out the paperwork for the DVS. Just got the title in the mail yesterday.
Only took me 11 months to get the title to my legally owned, legally registered and legally driven property. DVS in St. Paul are officially on my "YOU S%^K" list.

Looks like Minnesota is starting to take notes from Wisconsin! I will say that the Texans would have treated you better, and so far here in Illinois the Unimog has not raised any hackles, but then the deuce had to get sold at a huge loss in Texas as I could not afford plates for it up here.... That it about to change soon, Kudo's to MA DEUCE.......
Now that you have the plates, maintain the truck correctly and drive it, they hate sitting for long periods of time.....[thumbzup]

Thanks guys, I had plates all along they expire in Feb 13, for 4 months they were one ton plates(DMV doesn't know what they're doing) then they made me turn them in for Yplates then made me send pics and documentation, then when I proved there are deuces registered and legally driven with Pete's help they STILL made me get it inspected. I would've been screwed without the title in Feb.
Bikeman, recommend you go to White bear lake anyway. Don't want to end up like I did, 11 months before satisfying some gov't worker without a clue in St. Paul. Apparently White Bear lake knows what they're doing.

I recently titled the MK48 at White Bear-even with it shown as an FPU and a trailer, they managed to get it done in about 15 minutes. The girls there are decent and look like they hustle behind the corner.
