I had an (83) M817 dump truck with the Cummins 250 and it was a sweetie. I sold it and now am looking again and ran across a dump truck in a salvage yard that has the (turbo) Hercules engine, I think multi fuel.

I didn't have time to search it over, but with a bed in good shape and not real rusty, I'm thinking about making an offer.

Is there a predecessor to the M817 that had the Hercules multi fuel but otherwise looks the same? I do like that body style and dump is always handy.

What model was predecessor to 817?

Other than engine, what are some differences from the 817?. How about power steering? Brakes? I think it had a Hercules but can't confirm it yet.

Also does it have front caster angle issues if one goes to the 14.00 from 11.00, like a deuce does when using the 365 (or bigger than 9.00) on the front?

Should have the big hydro assist right on the top of the steering column when you raise the hood. The thing in the bottom right of the picture. Just near the 2 oil filters. Air over hydraulic brakes. Its the same as any other M54 series.
