Nice post, Tracer. Not so familiar with the Buran.The AN-225 with the Buran Space Shuttle. There is a second AN-225, that is still sitting in the production line, after production stopped decades ago.
There is some truth to this popular mechanics story. The AN-225 was developed because Russia didn't have a large commercial airliner to transport the Buran. NASA used the 747 to transport the space shuttle, and it worked quite well. Here is the 2nd AN-225 still in the hangar. I hope one day this aircraft will fly.Nice post, Tracer.
