Montana Title

I opted for the Montana title when purchasing the M1123 a year ago. I still have not received it. Customer support says it is still in the works. Is this common? Have other people had the same delay?

I got the title also and first one Montana messed up on and put off-road. I had to send it back and wait for replacement. Took almost a year from date of purchase. I found out that in Nevada there is zero advantage of getting the title and my new truck I just got the SF97

Get the SF97 and register yourself in Montana to get the title.

14 months . But it's been a while since i bought a truck at auction.

I bought the Montana title as well with my purchase. Hoping it doesn't take that long after paying $200 for that option. I work for a company based out of Montana and I'm remote. So, if this title gets mixed up, maybe next time I'm up to visit the home office I can run in to the DMV and ask some questions.
Without title, this 1097R1 becomes a bit over kill for driving up to the neighborhood pool. Gonna make all the golf cart drivers very nervous.

The title takes as long as SF97. They don’t request a title until they get the SF97 back. Then they let it sit until they get a bundle to send off

Thanks for all the responses. Looks like I'm not the only one waiting over a year. I'll keep plugging away at the little things the truck needs (doors, hardtop, etc). Patience....

Without title, this 1097R1 becomes a bit over kill for driving up to the neighborhood pool.

Mine "only" took about 8 months before getting the Montana title. Texas dragged their ass another 3+ months (after my appointment) to finally issue my Texas title.

For what it's worth, I got to a point where I was driving the truck while still waiting on the title/registration. While it's certainly illegal, it's not a crazy expensive ticket or anything. I made it a point to carry all the sales info showing the purchase from govplanet and I also kept a copy of my appointment at the DMV to get my title (along with a completed title application). Our title offices still don't allow walk-ins post covid, so you have to make an appointment. I kept making/cancelling appointments while waiting for the title so that I'd have a slot once the title came in. If I had gotten pulled over prior to getting registered, I had a bill of sale and proof of a DMV appointment for the title. A cop might still have given me a ticket for no registration, but I figured they would probably give me a pass and worst case I just pay the ticket. I had the truck insured and I confirmed that it was covered (including liability) without registration or title (that was my bigger concern).

I had my truck registered as a "former military vehicle", so no inspection is required and I elected not to get license plates (the military markings are my license number for registration). The hmmwv isn't a daily driver for me, otherwise I would have registered it normally. It's a bit of an experiment to see if I'll be a target for getting pulled over (I figure it's confusing for a cop to see a vehicle on the road with no plates or registration sticker). I've only put a little over a thousand miles on it around town, but have gotten nothing but waves and smiles from the cops so far. If I have any issues with this type of registration, it's a simple switch to register it as a "normal" truck (I'll just need to get it inspected every year and it will require license plates).

I live in MT and just take my SF97 to the DMV (here it is actually the Department of Justice, Motor Vehicle Division), then they send me the title in about 3 weeks!

Plus, i get to LIVE in MT!!!

Update on Montana title. I received it via FedEx yesterday. Yay! Took a bit over a year since purchase.
I might have added a few weeks since I was not able to pick up truck from Yermo immediately after the EUC cleared due to travel.

Now on to the Oregon DMV. We'll see how that goes....

In the upper right of the title, what is the Style code? Mine was OH, which is Off Highway, so that might be a problem.

The thing that killed my effort was the six digit VIN. The computer choked on it, so the clerk called the State, and the person there said no on-road title in Washington.

The wheels are in motion...

The MT title took about a month so maybe I was lucky! I went through the path of having the vehicle ID verified by a certified DoJ office and sent everything to the DoJ... a month later the MT title and plates were delivered to my office in MT. Maybe it does help to have an actual address within the state otherwise they drag their feet??

Altogether I've been driving the truck I received in June with plates and title since July... feels very good compared to nightmare stories Awe can read about and other pains I have been through in the past (I ended up selling a truck without a title in the past because I couldn't get one)

I've applied for Vermont's Air Medal veterans license plate.



Paperwork was mailed yesterday, so 4 - 6 weeks I should get the plates in the mail. If WA grieves me for having an out of state plate, I'll transfer it to a trust and be done with it. Sadly, VT will not title it as it's more than 15 years old, so I'll keep the MT title in the file cabinet.

I think all you get from Dirt Legal is the same thing with a Utah plate.

I received mine in a few weeks or a little over a month I think
