Mounting a MEP-002 on a M103

I have a MEP-002 that I want to mount on my M103 trailer.
My M103 trailer does not have the rails on top of the trailer deck. From what I have seen some 103s have the rails and some do not. Can someone tell me what purpose do the rails serve and what determines if they are supposed to on the trailer or not?
Do I need the rails to mount my genset?
I tried to find the rails locally without success.

OD... I am not sure why they used the Rails. On the M116, they dont use them. And I dont think they used them with the gas gensets...

I say just bolt it down!
