Does anyone know if these are simple circuit devices (IE the leads are irrelevant)? On the factory sets the leads feature one male, one female. I bought a couple replacements from Governors America Corp in Agawam, MA (part number MSP6719) and they come with raw flying leads. Thanks

The leads are indeed irrelevant. We always installed them with a male and female on the MPU, and the opposite on the wire harnes, just to preclude folks from asking that question. Most sets were taken care of, by people who had limited knowledge of the ins and outs. This way, we never game them a choice.

LITD,

Is Governors America the OE supplier of MPUs on the 802/803s? I'm thinking a couple of these would be a good addition to the spare parts stash.

Thanks,

-Craig

You can buy them in most truck repair shops, and elsewhere. They rarely go bad. The big problem is that they get ground off, when loose, or someone screws them in too far.

No Datcon made the part in the sets (think they know go by Maxima Technologies, which is a mashup of companies including the old Stewart Warner). I got a price of roughly $40/ea on the OE part, but it was a 2-3 week lead time via finditparts.com. Twice the price through GAC, but could get them 40 minutes down the road the same day.

As Guy said, I wouldnt necessarily consider this a must have shelf part. If you were feeling froggy, grab one.
