MRAP seats & motorized turret in a M1083A1

Just installed a set of NIB MRAP seats into the M1083. They sit too high with the MRAP mounting bracket, but with that bracket removed and a 1/4" adapter plate they work really well. The only real downside is they are pretty heavy (and a pain to get into the cab) with the under seat armor.

I have also included a picture of the 1151 motorized turret I have installed. It's a bit smaller than the M66 ring and I have never seen the adapter kits for sale, but I was able to have a local shop CNC Plasma an adapter plate for me.

That turret looks 100% better than that way too heavy M66. If you post a pdf of the adapter you had made I would be forever thankful.

Unfortunately, I don't have a design file for the adapter ring. I took my turret cover and the geared ring down to a local machine shop with a CNC plasma cutter. They used the turret cover to get the OD and the bolt pattern to mount it to the cab and the geared ring for the ID and the bolt pattern to attach the ring to the adapter. I had them cut the adapter out of 3/8" A36 steel plate.

The FMTV was designed to use the M66 turret as a direct drop-in or a HMMWV/MRAP turret (which is a bit smaller) with an adapter kit. The M66's are Vietnam era, heavier, stiffer bearing, and don't have a door that closes and seals. There is a canvas cover for them, but they still leak pretty bad. There are multiple "HMMWV" turrets with different advantages, but all have doors, are lighter than the M66, and are designed for a gunner protection kit. I went with the 1151 turret which is the heaviest of the turrets, but is motorized. I can flip two levers and disconnect the motor and manual crank and swing it by hand like an M66, engage the manual crank and use the crank to turn the turret, or disengage the manual crank and use the joystick to turn (once I get it wired).

I got the seats a bit over 3 years ago and paid $1580 for drivers, co-drivers, and 10 troop seats with mounts. All NIB.
