MTVR - CTIS & Transmission Shift Pad Lights Not Working After Rain

Hi everyone,

We’re working on our demonstration MTVR, installing a COPMA 228 knuckle boom robotic crane, and after some heavy rain, we’ve noticed that the CTIS and Transmission Shift Pad Selector no longer light up on the display / LED indicators. However, they still function correctly in Drive, Reverse, and Neutral.

I do have replacement parts from another MTVR we use for spares, but before swapping them out, I’d like to diagnose the issue. Could this be related to a fuse or another electrical component? Any advice on troubleshooting or getting the lights working again would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Dumb thing but do make sure your headlight switch (top left) is off. The lights on the selectors don't illuminate with them on. The TCM is taking commands to shift so that part is happy.

Thank you very much Fuzzy! Actually, I had the headlights switched on from the start, the one you described on the top left, because I had to drive it on the street on a very cloudy day. I'll try with headlights off and I think you are definitely correct. So this opens up a question. If the whole dashboard is pretty much blacked out at night how do you switch D-N-R and CTIS buttons-if needed? Do you use a top light somewhere? How do you normally operate these at night?
