Mud Bog Help

I will be entering my deuce in a mud bog this friday and i have never done one before. any ideas on what gears i should use? any help is appreciated

Well take plenty of chain, and make sure they have something large enough to get it out. I love my A2/A3s, but they suck in the mud!

stock right now just got it a year ago plan on upgrading to super singles after i am done with school at the Citadel

Deuces (and other military vehicles) were made to haul cargo and soldiers over rough terrain and for use on improved roads, while being operated by young soldiers that may or may not be expericenced at operating big vehicles.

They can and will get stuck in mud.

It's your dog and you can whip it if you want to......I don't abuse my trucks because it cost money to fix them.

6 wheel drive allows you to get stuck farther in the mud than the guys in the little trucks.

My impression of the mud bogs I've seen is that it's all about horsepower. I don't think there's any way you can get the deuce wheels spinning fast enough to get more than a couple feet once you hit the mud. See if they'll give you a half-mile run at it.

Ive been threw alot of stuff with my truck, but i stopped.. Cause i learned! haha But second or third low is fine. These trucks do get stuck, UNLESS.. You have super singles.. We have some on the work truck and the pud was past the fenders.. Thick clay too.. These trucks are mean machines, but they do break!

I think wheel speed and momentum is huge..Just like a farm tractor, you want the highest gear with out stalling. gotta move that mud out of the tread, if a very low gear is used, tire tread will fill up...

I agree, the stock tires are very poor in the mud but with limited horsepower and non-aggressive tread you shouldn't brake anything. The truck in my avatar, now that's a different story.

i agree i dont really see breaking anything in soft mud at low speed and with a big bulldozer to pull me out. i just wanted to do something fun before i go to the military academy.

I suggest locking the diffs or getting better tires before doing this.

But hey, it's your truck.

Me I HATE mud, eats up brake pads and seals and makes fixing things no fun.

this is the first time i have done anything dirty with the truck how does mud destroy brake pads

Here are some pics of a 5ton that just drove on some soft soil. Tried pulling him out with an M818. No luck. Took a M816 wrecker to drag him out. Super singles didn't help a bit
