What is the purpose of the circled item? Was there once a larger mudflap that has torn off from this bracket?

Since Tapatalk did their upgrade. Tapatalk issue, not SS.

You need to go into your tapatalk settings and change how the pictures are attached. Patracy has posted a few times about this.

Interesting! I do not have a dropside, so I think I'll be removing this. I don't see any purpose other than a place for rust to start.
