The TM actually has a great description of the process. More or less, you start at one point by manuallu turning the engine over to get to the beginning, then set your clearances on 2 of the valves, turn the engine over a certain amount and do 2 more, repeat, etc, until you have done them all.

I found this easiest with a prybar on the jackshaft between the tranny and the trans and a watcher on the engine. NOTE: MAKE SURE FUEL SHUTOFF CABLE IS PULLED OUT AND LOCKED. The likelihood of the engine starting is practically nil but safety should always be foremost.

Find a LDS 427-2 Engine manual and it will give you the valve adjusting sequence with only 2 moves. Tried and true. I use .015 intake, .025 exhaust. Old mechanic always said" a tight valve is a burnt valve. My trucks run good at 15 and 25. JT

John, I always love to see your posts. "An old mechanic"? That phrase(coming from you) just hit my funny bone.

I'm not calling you old, please don't hate me!
