My M1009

Had this for about a year. 1986 CUCV only a bit of rust, which i'm mitigating. 86K miles. I'm in the process of refinishing the interior. It needs all the window glass rubbers... as well as a bit of love and replacing missing pieces NFOKMO...

Looks great! How do you like those canvas seat covers? Thinking about getting some myself.

They are nice. No complaints. My drivers seat has a tear in the vinyl and the cover does a great job covering the tear.

Some of the rust issues. A few rot holes under the door sill plates. Dealt with stopping the rust and made some patch plates (pounded to match the shape of the bottom of the body) to weld onto the underside of the body. I'm also going to use panel bond to make the plates really stick and make them waterproof. Three patches on each side.

Also had a actual hole in the body where one of the NBC mount holes was. Cut out the bad parts and mitigated the remaining rust, then welded in a patch. It was right over the body support so it was easy to weld up.. It needs a bit more grinding before I paint.

Haven't posted any updates in months. But All the door and tailgate rubber have been replaced. Interior painted and the dash board is in pieces waiting for parts. meanwhile I've painted / painting the exterior. I used Rapco paints and it's turning out nice. I also got a Smittybuilt "GEAR" rear seat cover for the rear seat. Used some 2" hook Velcro to extend the straps.

I followed the original paint pattern which was on the truck. The pattern followed the "template" supplied in the TM's pretty well.

Keep those Smittybuilt covers out of the sun. UV ruins them, I had the same set and it was outside for a year and I can literally just tear the webbing off and the material. Cheap china material. They were nice when new, but honestly I barely used them and now they are dry rotted beyond belief. I definitely will never buy them again. Rest of the truck looks great!

This truck is garaged when it's not out on the road, so I don't thing there will be a issue with dry rot. I mainly used this as a cover for the rear portion of the back seat as there are a few tears and abrasions from use. I couldn't find another cover which covered the back as well as the front of the rear seat.

The only marking on the truck which I saved and didn't paint over was the "follow me" triangle on the rear gate...

Wanted to leave something original for nostalgia sake. Just masked it off prior to paint...
