My rhino-lined m1009

Hello SS members! I just bought my CUCV not too long ago and been working on it nonstop for the past 3 weeks and this site has given me an incredible amount of information that I don't even know how to start to say thanks!

As for my CUCV, its been completely rhino lined on the exterior, it has been converted to 12V and has a functioning ice cold AC. I also installed a manual GP switch (push button) with the AC60G's GPs with incredible results when it comes to starting. The most important thing, I installed a radio with 4 marine speakers. The back boxes I made myself and Herculined them. They seem pretty water proof. If any one has any questions just ask and again thanks to all on this site who provide sooo much information to us just starting off with MV's.

Wow that rhino-liner must render the inside nearly sound proof with an AC and stereo. Your m1009 is probly nicer to ride in than most civi trucks or even cars lol. Plus I guess you can just drive it straight through the brush and not have to worry about getting a bunch of scratches in the paint and metal. Gotta ask...how much did it cost you to rhino-line your whole truck?????

Rhino Liner question for anyone who knows about it....

Is is paint-able and does it have any worthy ballistic characteristics. Short of shooting holes in vehicles, has anyone ever seen a report or study? Weird question, I know.

Rhino Lining will stop everything up to a .308. I suggest you try it out with a .223 first! Just shoot the drivers door and see if it leaves a mark.

I have the interior and exterior of my M1009 lined (Speedliner). It did next to nothing for sound proofing.

Yeah, but the rhino-liner is thicker and more rubbery. I have been going back and forth on doing the interior on mine for ease of cleaning and soundproofing. Guy in town said $450 for the entire floor area and up to the windows in back...

I did this test. It worked perfectly. The .308 *almost* made it through but the .223 just left a deep scratch. Pistol rounds just bounce off!

I think herculiner is about $150, do it yourself for a pickup bed so......
I would think you could do it yourself for $300..... not sure what quantity you have to buy it in.
really depends on how thick you put it on... I guess..
I have thought about the rhino or herculiner and then Astro-turf........
I figure that way I could just hose it down and hang it over the fence ...

I don't want anything that will absorb or keep moisture in it....
vehicle is extremely rust free... don't want to start the process...

I like the Marine speakers as well..... I know MTX make some.... not real pricey also available in black or white....
I would have to put a stereo in if I went the speaker route.... decisions, decisions

I bought the setup off of crutchfield. Sony has the marine radio and speakers for 179. I also put marine alpines in the back. But if you want to put the speakers on the door panels like I did, you're going to have to cut the actual door and door panel to get the magnet to fit.

Believe it or not, the guy I bought if from had already put it on. He said his buddy owed him some cash, so since he worked at a shop he sprayed it to cover his debt. From what I've read, its around the 1000 dollar mark, give or take a couple hundred bucks.
