Hello All

I may be buying a 1967 M109A3 marked "Diesel fuel only". I understand that I will need to replumb the fuel compensating valve in order to be multifuel.

If it is broken or missing, how hard is it to get one? How expensive?

How difficult is it to do the plumbing?

Why would they have made this change?

Thank you in advance

I think most, if not all, of them say that. Diesel fuel is the "preferred" fuel. I'm not sure what a fuel compensating valve is....

I'm sure there will be others to chime in.

Your M109A3 is still a multifuel, no problems. The fuel viscosity compensator simply adjusts the IP to account for different energy levels in the fuel so that the engine behaves more similarly regardless of the fuel. I'd leave the viscosity compensator by-passed if it was me.

I would leave it bypassed because they could leak fuel into the crankcase. Many threads on this. Do some reading and decide for youself if you want to add a fuel conditioner.
