What does it dump out, oil or debris?

I gues I need an air gonerner then. Do you think my set up would be any different because I have the twin cylinder pump?

The slobber tube dumps out oil from the blow-by created in the engine. It is attached to the top of the valve covers.

Newer vehicles use a PCV valve to reburn the blow-by.

The air governor is the same for both type of compressors.

I figured a PCV should be doing that job. I do not suppose there is one out there that will fit tgis old truck. Oh, any idea what I am looking at cost wise to locate a governer?

The trucks have not used PCV valves since they where new. Why would you want to put one on now?
Also if you are dumping the blow-by oil back into the intake, who have an small uncontrolled fuel source
that would allow the engine to continue running after the main fuel is shutoff.


You can get the governor at almost any big truck parts house. Part #275491

I sure do miss that sound. Thanks for the videos, I saw soem things I had not thought of yet. WHat is the orange bottle for in the second video.

I figured a PVC might help reduce a mess if this engine belches more than others. $20 is a releif, I cannot dump a bunch of money into the project.

The orange bottle is the ether starting assist bottle. It is electronically controled by a switch on the dash. It was an ad-on option for cold weather areas.

The thing to worry about with belching oil is when the truck STOPS belching oil/grease. It means you have run t dry.....:shock:

It uses the same switch that the original flame heater used. I think the later depot rebuilds or new engine replacements they switched to the ether bottle and eliminated the flame heater. Five of the nine deuces that came out of that batch of deuces at Riley were equipped with the ether bottle and no flame heater. The ones that had the ether bottles had no time on the oil. Clean break in oil! That one in the video has four hours on it since the depot overhaul. They were all done at Tooele in Utah and came from the Kansas National Guard.... Glen

I am still going back and looking at these photographs. I can only spend small amounts of time working on this truck so it is getting dragged out.

Behind the compressor is a block that holds the fuel lines in place. Can some one tell me if that block is bolted to the back of the compressor and if so where?

I think the block for the fuel lines your refferring too is bolted to the compressor via some sort of spacer rod. In post #3 by diesel bob, the first pic is like a top down view of it and you can see where its affixed. 2nd pic is a different angle. If those dont help, i will look when i get home and get a better pic if you want.

That is different than mine, I think that is why I did not notice it. I have the two cylinder compressor. I do see how it can attatch though. I do not think I require a spacer, ot if I do it will not be as long.

Can you put up a pic of this 2 cyl compressor? I may be a lil shy on experience with the deuces but ive never seen one with a 2 cyl... Is it off another deuce or? I saw in your first post that there was no compressor. Did it fit right in? This is pretty interesting to me and im just curious. TBH i dont even know whats under my hood lol...never paid much attention to alot of parts since they all worked and didnt leak. (focused mainly on leaking, bad parts needing to be replaced)
