Good gvening fellas
Let me start the tale
I am starting to get my trucks P.M. stuff on track I have had the truck aprox 2 1/2 months now.
I had to replace the oil pan due to a J.B. welded plug ( not acceptable) so i held on the oil change until I had the new pan, pan gaskets, filters ect. As well as fuel filters.

Ran the truck aprox 15 miles to warm up drained the oil all went fine changed the pan and oil filters all went fine.
Then came the fuel filters I suspected that i would have issues due to the fact that the drain cocks would let nothing through pulled both the final and secondary filters I was supprised any fuel got through they were comopletly coverd in sldge the secondary a lot more so than the final in fact the final just had a bit of build up in the bottom of the filter housing and a little on the element. The secondary had about an inch of crap in the bottom of the housing cleaned them all out cleared the cocks and changed out those 2 filters without a hitch.
Pulled the primary filter it wasnt to bad ( I am suspecting that it was changed by the guy I bought it from) changed it out bolted down the alt. no problem.

Opened the vent cock between the secondary and the final filters hit the aux switch low air buzzer came on all is good but........after 5min no fuel at the upper vent shut off the vent cock between the filters opened the cock on the primary nothing no fuel nothing. pulled the fuel line feeding the primary filter header hit my aux switch no fuel pulled the line on top of the fuel pump no fuel pulled out the fuel pump kept the power to it hit the aux switch nothing no wirring no pumping nothing.

What happened.... it ran like a champ 5 hours before now nothing I primed the pump no go checked for power to the pump at the plug as the plug faces you there are 3 holes the top locator right and left I showed power on the right I am assumeing the left is ground.
Did my pump just coincidentaly crap out?????
The issue being cash is tight this month (customers are haveing issues paying on time) and i have a bit*# neighbor who already told me if it is there 3 days she will call the cops and have it towed.
Does anyone have one laying around they can part with on a credit type situation till I have a couple customers pay me ( end of this week early next)
Any information , advise, help ect would be apriciated.
Thanks Jerry :!:

Firstly let me point out that the deuce will run normally without that pump. Priming the system without the pump is no joy at all. Secondly, that little cover that bolts on to the top of the pump with 3 little nuts, did you pull that off? Inside there is the only fuse on the entire truck. It could be bad or have some corrosion in there giving you grief. Start there and report back.

Sounds like your intank fuel pump went out on your or the fuse blew. Have you tried flipping on the accessory switch, walking over to your fuel tank and putting your hand over the intank pump assy? You should feel a vibration or even hear the pump. If you get nothing then check the fuse. If the fuse is good then I would guess you need to replace the pump. The truck will run with a non-functioning intank fuel pump if the fuel system is primed. If it isn't primed well then....

No I get no vibration whiring or anything when I hit the accy switch I will check the fuse that sounds logical is it a common fuse/
Thanks Jerry

Pulled the fuse and it was blown so to me this answers a couple questions as it has been hard starting since i got it so when you couple the filthy filters with the inop pump i think that might explain hard starting. Well it is 11:00 here now so I will pick up a couple fuses in the AM and pray to the Lord Jesus that is all she needs. Man I still love this truck.
Thanks for the extra promt help guys. will report back in the am.
Take care Jerry

fuel problems

You said that it will run without the fuel pump I am guessing the engine suction pulls the fuel.
In worse case how do you properly prime the pump / fuel system all I did was fill the in tank pump line from the top of the tank after removing the copper fuel line just to see if I got any fuel spraying when I hit the accy switch.
Thanks Jerry

With the intank pump pumping, open the bleed port on top of the secondary and final filters. once the bubbles stop and you have a steady stream of fuel(close bleeder port), crank her over.

Thanks Gimpy
That answers my question I know how to prime it that way i am guessing by your reply that it cant be primed without an operating in tank fuel pump ( emergency situation)
Thanks Jerry

Take the mushroom off the intake and give it a squirt of gas, not ether, the gas fumes will get it to start in short bursts until it primes itself. Don't over do the gas because once it starts to run on whats in the intake you have no control over it.

I have run a leaf blower in the tank's fill opening to get the system to prime while the pump wasn't working. If ytou are not carefull, it will splash out on ya.

Yeah, any type of positive air pressure will work just have the bleeder valve open. An old towel (or a new one if you are looking for a fight) makes for a fine seal aroud the fuel tank opening.
