Hey gang,

I acquired a significant amount of spare parts from a M.V. hobbyist who left the hobby. I have lots of gasket sets, axle seals, etc. that are still sealed in their brown paper packages marked with the NSN number and a brief description. Most parts should be for 2 1/2 and 5 ton trucks. I want to create a database to inventory the parts so I can eventually offer them to fellow hobbyists. I've begun using the internet but the "search engines" for NSN numbers I've found only allow you to get a quote but nothing about the specifics of the component. I need to know "where used", "dimensions", etc.

I'm happy to pay for a subscription if needed.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Do you have access to the VIN/Serial data as well? I understand the gentleman that used to offer such a service is no longer able to do so.
Maybe. The systems have changed since I did before, and some of it doesn't seem to be accessible. I'm not at the point where I feel comfy saying "yes" until I do some more work and research.

Another thing is depending on age, some of it may have been removed from the supply system as the items the parts went to are no longer use by the military. If you think they are for the 2.5 and 5T you can use the 34P manuals and look under "FEDERAL STOCK NUMBER AND REFERENCE NUMBER INDEX" in the back and the parts are listed in FSN numerical order and will reference the page and drawing(figure) that will give you a picture to check them with.

You can also find things via a Google search, but you need to look a little deeper at what the search results show. Just last night I was looking for five ton wheel seals using the search term "seal 7979349", perusing through the first two pages of results found me not only the outer wheel seal "7413447" but also alternate part numbers for both, which I passed along to the guys who were looking for the info so they could buy a couple of sets. BTW, the front does not have an outer seal on the 5 ton's, only the rear axles. The prices I found were about half of what they had located, too.
