Need help calibrating fuel sending unit for MEP-004

The fuel gauge in my MEP-004 reads about 1/3 of a tank when I have 10 gallons of fuel in it. Since it's a 15 gallon tank, it should read 2/3 full. I replaced the fuel sending unit in the main fuel tank, part 72-2271 called the "fuel level switch" in the TMs, and that did not fix the problem. All of the wires are in good shape as are the connectors. I swapped out the gauge for a new one, and that did not fix the problem. I even swapped out the fuel float switch in the day tank, and that did not fix the problem (of course, it shouldn't).

Another expert on this forum suggested there is a way to calibrate the fuel level switch, but I can't see how that is done just from looking at it. I hope that someone can tell me how they adjusted their unit, so I can get my fuel gauge to read correctly. Here are a couple photos of the fuel level switch:

If the gauge reads F with the float up and E with the float down you could bend the rod going to the float.

That's what I did on my 802 along with moving the sensor up on the bracket.

Mine was off the other way though.

A MARKED STICK is the BEST military fuel gauge, fill it up, stick it, work it for a hour, stick it, you now know how much fuel is used in a hour, the ONLY thing the lies worse then a military fuel gauge IS a politician.

It is funny, the fuel gauge is one of the most important items on any vehicle, but the MOST unreliable item on any military motorized piece of equipment, it just makes you wonder.

Ah hah, This is an old style sending unit. Try bending the wire like RICK- M39 suggested. Newer sending units come with a different setup. Pictures are better then a thousand words!!
