New Battery setup, and now ABS light?

Hello all...

Well I've read the threads on ABS and the TM, but I can't find any possible explanation on this...

We pulled the 4 bad military batteries from the M923A1, and put two new 12 V semi batteries in... fit well, and redid the wires.

Now however, my ABS light comes on after driving the truck for awhile. It does come on initially for the start check, and goes off. After driving for a random, but not over 10 minute timeframe, it comes on and stays on.

Is there something with the battery change that could have done this?

Thanks!

Was the light on before battery change ?
Indeed road speed I believe of 35 is necessary to activate ABS - check your wheel sensor and make sure they have the proper clearance between them and the tone rings

Good Questions

Good Questions...

Yes she was running, in fact we did a 150 mile memorial escort just a couple months ago, no problems. The ABS and she ran perfect.

First and easiest would be to check the two inline fuses- under the dash near the steering column.

But since it was working and now seems to be screwed up- it's probably your ECU.

Also, you can burn up the ECU by doing an improper shutdown- so be sure you follow the TM EXACTLY for the ignition shut-off sequence. If you've been doing it wrong- start looking for the ABS/ECU.

Please be sure to let us know what works for you.

Thanks

Yeah we always shut down right to avoid this problem... but perhaps the battery change did something...

Where can I get a new ECU if that is the issue?

Not Yet...

No haven't found out what could have done it yet...
need to check the fuses... but been busy on a BTR restore.

Will try to do that this week and let you know... I'm guessing the ECU is toast...

Your abs sensor could be out of adjustment or the exciter is dirty and the sensor can't pic it up. You'll need to pull the two rear most wheels and hub to check. I did a post on this a while back. I would do this first before spending money on parts.
