First, Welcome to the site.
Second, learn how to use this site's search function. Lots of great people have spent a lot of time putting sticky notes up here and sharing information for old timers and newbies (like myself).
Third, some people will suggest you buy your first one from someone who already has one and has done all the paperwork. Some will say go for it and buy one off of GL's site. I've done both now and each has their good and bad points.
Inspect the machine you want to buy first and if you can afford it and it has all the features you want then buy/bid on it.
Thanks to the GL guys in Smyrna, TN and kipman in OH I've had two great purchases and drives home with a Deuce.

PS As I write this I'm sitting a mile from a yard full of stuff at Ft Meade.
