Mine is licensed as "commercial" for "non commercial use". You have no other option around this, unless you work through the dmv and have the the requirements for a RV. With a 1079 if you build a bed that could be considered permanent it may work. I did a lot of research and in WA trucks are licensed based on curb weight. I think commercial plates start at 12 or 14k lbs. Also insurance followed the same route. On a plus side DOT numbers were not required since its for non commercial use according to their flow chart. You can look up all of the WA licensing requirements online and see for yourself. I had even printed them and brought with me to the office. It was super easy and only too 15 min to complete.
