New guy here, served as a Crewmember on a V-100 with the 66th MP Company in Phu Tai, South Vietnam in 1969-70. Worked convoy escort and security for most of my tour in gun jeeps and V-100's. Will gladly try and answer any questions I can about V-100's in Vietnam.

I have an album with some photos of V-100's from our company and will post some more later.

Anything you would care to share of your time on these would be greatly appreciated. Hearing y'alls stories adds life to these vehicles.

I have spent the last three years working on restoring a V. Known (documented) history shows mine delivered new to the 720th MP in Long Binh in 1968, depot rework in Saigon in 1969. Its history is then unknown until documents show it with the Marines as a nuke guard post-war.

Nice set of pictures in your album. Looking at the battle damage photo I can't tell if the hull on that V is cracked on the passenger fuel tank like the one we have is.

Welcome! Actually learned something today as I never heard of V-100 before. The twin guns don't look like 50's, what were they please? Again, welcome and thanks for sharing the pics.

Twin MGs used in Vietnam by US are M-73's in 7.62 NATO. These were primarily used as co-ax MG in M-60's and were finicky if not properly head spaced. ARVN V-100s often used M-37 and M-2HB combination. Turkish Army models used twin MG-3s (7.62 NATO MG-42)

The M-73's did act up a bit, it was rare for both of them to work together, but when they did they put out some awsome fire power. We also had an M-60 for the RTO in the rear and the driver had a M-79 grenade launcher. Of course we all had our M-16's and sometimes carried a 12 ga pump shotgun. Plenty of ammo for all. The V-100 was a very good vehicle.

Ken Sounds like your group and the 630th were a lot alike. You could never count on the electric to work on the M-73's. But it was nice you could fire them manually. And they were trying to add 50's to ours V,s when I left in '71
