I'd probably come down Monteagle in 3rd gear, just watch your RPM. Judiciously apply the brakes to slow down to 1800 rpm, let it creep back up to 2500, brake again. My deuce will engine brake on a pretty steep grade as long as I stay in 3rd gear.

Thanks for the tip on Monteagle.

Now on to my next dilemma, Tom has offered two options when I pick up my Deuce. One is to bring the Deuce to the airport where we can complete all the paperwork, and I could get on the highway headed south from there. The other is to go back to his shop where we can finish the paperwork, and I can look around at all of the stuff he has around there. I figure the 2nd option take a good 3-4 hours additional. Personally, I'm leaning towards option 2. I have given myself plenty of time to get home, and this will probably be my only chance to actually visit Alfa Heaven. So what would you all do?

stroll around you never know what you may fit in the back of that deuce for the ride home, it would be a shame to not take anything home in the bed of that new truck

Visit, you won't regret it. Have him give you the tour, it's amazing. Probably one of the nicest, most complete shops in the MV business. I saw your truck last Thursday, very nice. You'll be happy.

I finished my 2100 mile trip yesterday.

Tom is a stand-up guy! I broke down on the way home and spent 27 extra hours in Adair IA. Population 700 and 1 very good shop (Craig's Automotive). Starter failed which fried the starter relay. Alfa Heaven did all they could to make it right. I'm very happy with their response and my truck.

Kevin, I'm glad to hear you made it home safely. Sorry to hear about the starter, but it sounds like you did fine.

I have definately decided to go up to the shop. I'm sure I would regret it later if I didn't do it when I had the chance. The 16th is coming up quick.... :jumpin:
